Chemours is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join our growing Monomers Manufacturing Technology team. This position will be available at the Fayetteville, NC location and report directly to the Monomers Manufacturing Technology Manager.
The role of the Monomers Senior Process Engineer is to provide technical support, guidance and oversight to the process systems of the manufacturing area with a focus on safety, operability and process improvement practices. The role includes implementation of improvement projects and is part of a team supporting a larger integrated development program aimed at improving plant operations. The Monomers area produces fluoromonomer products for the Advanced Performance Materials businesses within Chemours.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Develop the technical strategy for meeting business objectives and identify capital project opportunities to support the strategy
Provide Chemical Engineering support to the Monomers manufacturing area unit operations.
Provide Chemical Engineering expertise for project work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards and quality assurance.
Initiate or review Changes of Designs (COD
Provide engineering support to develop basic data and design oversight for >$500M Capital projects.
Lead and/or participate in Process Safety Management (PSM) related activities such as Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) reviews, Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR), Mechanical Integrity, Process Technology, and other technical and safety reviews
Participate in the PSM criticality assessment process, Process Hazards Analyses and Incident Investigations.
Provide technical leadership to achieve Product Stewardship and Environmental Goals
Provide chemical engineering expertise for troubleshooting, maintaining, and modifying operating equipment and facilities
Provide technical troubleshooting and training to the operating and maintenance teams.
Lead the implementation of process quality and yield improvement programs
Participate and lead PSM criticality assessment process, Process Hazards Analyses and Incident Investigations
Plan, execute, and complete reports on new product development trials to support commercialization of innovative new products and continual improvement
The following is required for this role:
BS degree in Chemical Engineering, with a minimum 5 years of Chemical Engineering work experience in reaction optimization and distillation. Relevant experience will be considered.
Experience supporting a high hazard operation with highly toxic materials.
Process Safety Management (PSM) experience, especially management of change and process hazard analysis.
Basic understanding of the principles of:
Data analysis techniques and statistical interpretation skills
Basic Unit Operations in chemical processes
Root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA)
Engineering design standards and their application
Cost/Capital analysis and justification
A self-starter and assertive mindset, with a willingness to initiate improvement ideas and to be vocal with thoughts and opinions
The following is preferred for this role:
Six Sigma certified as Green Belt preferred
Prior experience leading Process Hazard Analyses
