Description We are looking for a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join our team in Biddeford, Maine. This role offers the opportunity to oversee critical financial operations while contributing to the success of a well-established organization. With a hybrid work schedule available after the initial ramp-up period, this position provides flexibility and excellent benefits, including employer-paid health insurance, retirement plans, and more.

Responsibilities:

Manage full-cycle accounting operations, including general ledger activities and month-end close processes.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.

Provide technical accounting expertise to address complex financial issues and maintain updated policies.

Oversee audit processes, leveraging experience in public accounting to ensure successful outcomes.

Utilize advanced Excel skills to conduct data analysis and support financial reporting.

Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.

Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth financial operations and reporting.

Implement and maintain efficient accounting procedures to enhance operational effectiveness.

Review and approve financial reconciliations, journal entries, and other accounting documentation.

Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, particularly in non-profit accounting, to drive improvements. Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; a Master's degree is a plus.

At least 5 years of experience in full-cycle general ledger accounting, including month-end close.

Proven experience with financial statement preparation and technical accounting.

Background in public accounting, particularly with auditing, is highly desireable.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical capabilities.

Familiarity with non-profit accounting practices is a plus but not required.

Strong supervisory skills with a track record of managing and developing teams.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
