DESCRIPTION OF WORK This individual is a certified and skilled mechanic specializing in automotive and heavy equipment, responsible for a wide range of analytical tasks, preventative maintenance, and repair operations for a diverse fleet that includes construction machinery, trucks, passenger vehicles, and various hand tools. Their expertise encompasses the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment powered by both gasoline and diesel engines, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. By conducting thorough inspections and implementing effective maintenance strategies, they play a crucial role in minimizing downtime and extending the lifespan of the equipment, thereby supporting the operational efficiency of the fleet.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Winter shifts - 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements: Must possess a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License. Must possess a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.

Conditions of Employment: All employees must obtain an active certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in the operation of heavy trucks and loaders within the probationary period. Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment. Certain positions may require employees to possess a valid Pennsylvania Class 1, 4, or 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment. All positions require operation of vehicles or equipment with a manual transmission. This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
