Job Description

At Omni Royal Orleans, excellence isn't just a goal-it's a tradition. We are seeking a dynamic and strategicDirector of Engineeringto lead our Engineering department with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and five-star service.

In this critical leadership role, you will ensure the proper training and supervision of all Engineering personnel, while developing and maintaining cost-effective programs that keep our hotel operating smoothly, safely, and beautifully. Think of it as being the unsung hero who makes magic happen behind the scenes-no cape required (but we wouldn't say no to one either).

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and inspire a skilled team of Engineering professionals.

Implement preventative maintenance programs to maximize efficiency and lifespan of hotel equipment and systems.

Ensure the property meets all federal, state, and local safety codes and regulations.

Manage departmental budgets responsibly, balancing top-notch operations with cost efficiency.

Partner with hotel leadership to support new initiatives, renovations, and sustainability efforts.

Maintain a strong presence on property to ensure the timely resolution of all maintenance needs.

Coordinate and operate, in an economical, legal, and safe manner, all heating, lighting, power, and repair & maintenance for the hotel.

Inspect the physical plant and equipment, and supervise the maintenance and preventative maintenance programs for all hotel areas.

Coordinate with other departments on all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety, and health standards set by hotel policy and legal requirements.

Interview, hire, counsel, train, and discipline Engineering associates in partnership with the Director of Human Resources.

Directly supervise Engineering associates in the operation and control of utilities to ensure efficient hotel services and guest comfort.

Recommend future capital projects, obtain bids, and supervise contractors during project work.

Maintain all special permits and licenses required by local authorities for hotel operations.

Manage Engineering schedules, staffing, and payroll while maintaining accurate personnel records, utility logs, and Engineering documents.

Qualifications

Must hold valid First Class Licenses.

Must have extensive facilities maintenance, HVAC, and mechanical experience.

Prior resort or hotel engineering leadership experience required.

Proven experience managing a crew of five (5) or more Engineering professionals.

Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate across departments.

Ability to work weekends, holidays, and other times as needed based on operational demands-because leaks and power outages have zero respect for office hours.

Comfortable working in both the interior and exterior areas of the hotel or resort, in all @types of weather.

5+ years of Engineering leadership experience preferred, ideally within a luxury hotel or resort environment.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred (but if you can fix a boiler blindfolded, we're listening).
