Senior Accountant - HYBRID Schedule

Location: Rockville Centre, Long Island NY

As the Sr. Accountant, you will:

Financial Reporting: Oversee preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP standards.

General Ledger Management: Take ownership of the general ledger, ensuring accurate journal entries, account reconciliations, and ledger integrity.

Month-End and Year-End Closings: Lead closing processes, coordinate timelines, and produce comprehensive reports for leadership.

Revenue and Cost Analysis: Analyze freight revenue streams and associated costs to provide insightful recommendations for financial efficiency.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement refinements to accounting processes and systems to ensure scalability and efficiency.

Supervise Team Members: Mentor junior accounting staff, ensuring accuracy of their work and providing opportunities for growth and learning.

Audit Collaboration: Prepare and review documents for audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory guidelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with operations and logistics departments to address financial and operational needs.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or progress toward CPA designation strongly preferred).

5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role (freight forwarding or logistics industry experience is a significant plus).

Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, and data management skills required).

Knowledge of GAAP, compliance requirements, and technical accounting principles.

Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends and provide actionable insights.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a knack for mentoring and cross-departmental collaboration.
