Key Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.

Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), specifically tailored to nonprofit financial reporting guidelines.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, audit processes, and donor restrictions on funds.

Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring all accounts are properly balanced.

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and grant reporting, ensuring funds are allocated efficiently and effectively.

Collaborate with program directors and leadership teams to provide financial insight and support.

Develop strategies to streamline accounting processes, ensuring efficiency without compromising accuracy.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA strongly preferred.

Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in the nonprofit sector (Source: MC24 Job Search Guide US eBook.pdf).

Comprehensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, including fund accounting and grant reporting requirements.

Proficient in financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Blackbaud) and advanced Excel skills.

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with diverse stakeholders.

Knowledge of audit preparation and tax filing for nonprofits is a plus.
