At GDIT, people are our differentiator. GDIT Technology Shared Services (TSS) is seeking a Data Scientist Senior to transform how government agencies use data. Our work depends on a Data Scientist Senior joining our team to work on Project Monologue, with a focus on delivering AI-powered virtual agent chatbots to Federal and State agencies.
HOW A DATA SCIENTIST SENIOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Accelerate product development by integrating advanced AI capabilities across our suite
Modernize contact centers and service desks through enhanced self-service capabilities
Implement generative AI (GenAI) with large language models (LLMs) and retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to deliver precise, data-driven responses
Develop omni-channel functionality across voice and chat interfaces
Enhance virtual agents through advanced features including classification and sentiment analysis
Build an agentic framework enabling service ticket management, account administration, and intelligent journey orchestration
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent years of experience
Experience as a data scientist
Experience with generative AI (GenAI) using large language models (LLMs), RAG, and knowledge bases
Expertise in AI/ML technologies on AWS, including Bedrock, Lambda, and SageMaker
Experience in machine learning and statistical techniques and modeling with both quantitative and qualitative data
Experience with Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and PyTorch/TensorFlow
Ability to navigate ambiguity, solve problems, communicate effectively, and implement novel solutions in a dynamic field
Ability to obtain a public trust
NICE TO HAVE:
Experience fine-tuning LLMs for specific use cases
Hands-on experience with AI/ML tools in Google Vertex AI and Microsoft Azure
Background in NLP and conversational AI design
Experience with agentic frameworks and orchestration systems
Experience in forecasting, anomaly detection, classification, and clustering
Skilled in data visualization using python and BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker
Experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and database management
Experience in government contracting
Experience integrating AI solutions with legacy systems

The likely salary range for this position is $102,000 - $138,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
