We are offering a contract employment opportunity for an interim CFO/Finance Director in our Princeton, Texas location. The candidate will play a crucial role in various financial operations of our city, including budgeting, purchasing, debt management, and treasury management. The position entails ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations as well as providing strategic financial guidance to support organizational goals.

Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with the team to develop annual budgets, forecast financial performance, and monitor budgetary compliance.

Conduct detailed financial analysis to evaluate the organization's financial performance, identify trends, and assess financial risks and opportunities.

Oversee the accurate and timely preparation and analysis of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and budget variance analyses.

Supervise, coordinate, and organize various procurement and contract administration activities.

Assist in establishing and maintaining internal control procedures to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial records.

Coordinate internal and external audit activities, including the preparation of audit schedules and implementation of audit recommendations.

Oversee grants management activities, including grant budgeting, reporting, compliance monitoring, and reimbursement requests.

Assist in developing and implementing financial policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Provide supervision, guidance, and mentorship to finance department staff.

Participate in strategic planning initiatives and provide financial expertise and analysis to support organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

Proven experience as a CFO or similar Finance role, with a minimum of 10 years in a senior financial managerial position

Reviews financial data to monitor operating activity to recommend and help put in place efficiency and effectiveness. Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and budget variance analyses. Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting processes.

Collaborate with the Finance Director in developing annual budgets, forecasting financial performance, and monitoring budgetary compliance. Analyze budget variances and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and revenue enhancement opportunities.

Report (C.A.F.R.). Books year-end adjusting journal entries and reconciles the general ledger to the CAFR.

Conduct financial analysis to evaluate the organization's financial performance, identify trends, and assess financial risks and opportunities. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation.

Supervises, coordinates and organizes various procurement and contract administration activities for the City of Princeton. Monitors professional standards, develops policies, coordinates activities and oversees all work assigned to the Purchasing Division.
