The Role
Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks. Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes. Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics). Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data. Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports. May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Candidate for this position will support the engineering of Submarine Fleet Support work. The person filling this role will develop good technical writing skills and apply technical rigor to engineering product development. They will also provide technical solutions to a wide range of issues while trouble shooting and managing change orders. This position works hand in hand with Trades, Planning, Projects, and Construction Management to plan and execute off-site Submarine Fleet maintenance periods. Knowledge and experience with Submarine Fleet Support, drawing products, and processes is preferred. Knowledge of basic hull, mechanical, piping, electrical and related information regarding the ship is preferred. Analytical and verbal communication skills are preferred.
Must Have
Associate's Degree and 1 years of relevant experience
One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:
NNS Apprentice School graduate
Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate
High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Direct General supervision and instructions given for routine work and detailed instructions given for new activities or special assignments.
Duties & tasks are varied but standardized. Performs some more advanced functions. Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex questions to higher levels.
