JOB SUMMARY:
Setting: Hospital Outpatient Rehab 90% evaluation and treatment, Acute and Swing Bed evaluation and treatment 10%
Evaluate/assess the needs of patients and formulate treatment plans.
Various diagnosis included but not limited to Adolescent to Adult Orthopedic injuries, post op joint replacements, back, neck and/or joint pain, CVA, Generalized weakness, etc.
Use various treatment techniques to develop personalized treatment plans, to decrease pain and increase mobility/strength/endurance and teach patients exercise techniques/home exercise program to improve their health.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise PTAs
Provide therapy services defined in treatment plans.
Work cooperatively and communicate with physicians, case managers, and other members of the healthcare team.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation of therapy services in the medical record.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Flexibility to see patients as needed in Outpatient, Acute and Swing Bed areas (all located in the hospital).
Team player with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
Organized with excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Empathetic and caring to all patients no matter their background.
Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced, dynamic rehab environment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:
Dry needling certification helpful, but not required
Full time staff includes 1 PT, 2 PTA, 3 OTR, 1 SLP, 2 front office workers
Documentation and charges on Medhost Software
Hours of work: Monday - Thursday 8-5, Friday 8-12
Cafeteria on site or breakroom with refrigerator and microwave available
Outpatients scheduled every 45 minutes by front office - Average of 8-10 patients a day
Dress code - any color scrubs or khakis with collared shirt
COVID vaccine or religious exemption required
Small community, rural hospital with a busy rehabilitation clinic
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Program (minimum of bachelors degree) with 2+ years of experience preferred
Current Louisiana State Physical Therapy license (temporary license allowed)
BLS Certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to transfer patients with the use of gait belt, sliding board, and/or the assistance of another therapist.
SAFETY PRACTICES:
Consistently follows all established Safety procedures, incident/accident protocol and precautions or universal precautions when performing duties relating to work area.
Always follows good infection control practices and is familiar with Infection control policies, procedures PPE guidelines and guidance relevant to area of work.
Practices proper body mechanics and ergonomics at all times.
Follows established plans, policies, and procedures during emergencies, such as fire evacuation, fire drills and actively participates in emergency exercises/disasters etc.
Reports all Life Safety maintenance issues, defective equipment, etc. to the rehab director.
