POSITION: Moffat County Attorney
Provides legal advice and representation to the Board of Commissioners,
the Department of Human Services, and Moffat County Elected Officials and
Department Heads. Negotiates, prepares, and enforces leases and other
contracts to which the County is part. Represents the County in connection
with litigation, administrative proceedings, settlement discussions and
similar adversary proceedings except as to insured claims, and in
connections with insured claims, monitors any related litigation being
handled by private attorneys.
DUTIES:
Regularly reviews new case laws, statutes, and regulations having
possible application to the County and provides advice regarding compliance
with and implications of changes to the existing laws as required.
Attends hearings and meetings of the BOCC and various County boards and
commissions as needed or directed.
Evaluates claims against the County and monitors claims handled by insurers
as required.
Drafts and reviews leases, contracts, and other legal documents as required.
Meets with and otherwise communicates with the public, other governmental
entities, and the press relating to County legal matters.
Performs administrative functions relating to the County Attorney's office.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must be at least 21 years of age
Licensed to practice law in the State of Colorado.
At least 5 years of experience as a practicing attorney with experience in
some or all of the following areas of law: litigations, family law,
child support, employment law, Natural Resources, collections,
subdivision and zoning, federal, state, and local government law,
contracts, and civil rights law.
Valid Driver's License
Must successfully pass a drug screening and background check
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides
the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential
functions of the job.
WAGE: $91,464 - $114.330/year.
