Primary Duties /Student Marketing Specialist/ Manages and executes engaging strategic communication and marketing plans for UMB Student Affairs for student-facing services, programs, events, and initiatives. Develops and supports UMB Student Affairs marketing and communications efforts across a multifaceted marketing plan, which includes publications, social media, and web content creation/management. Assist in the development and implementation of marketing strategies for large-scale initiatives, including Fall Kick-Off, the centralized New Student Orientation, and university-wide student surveys. Identify communication and marketing needs and goals and develop and execute effective marketing strategies to achieve those goals. Define desired outcomes and deadlines. Maintain operational effectiveness within the marketing function to ensure project specifications and defined outcomes are met. Independently administer programs, processes, projects, and resources. Maintain the UMB Student Affairs email marketing system and other communication tools, which includes developing e-newsletters (e.g., Campus Life Weekly), announcements, and invitations, as well as other email communications based on need. Make recommendations on the best use of current email marketing through maintaining and reviewing analytics. Assist with social media efforts, including creating and publishing content, moderating accounts, and evaluating new social media outlets. Manage production and distribution of marketing materials, including brochures and flyers, with students serving as the primary audience. Partners with departments/areas within UMB Student Affairs, UMB Schools/Programs, and other campus partners to effectively communicate opportunities and initiatives to students and other stakeholders. Generate communications and marketing-related proposals annual reports, and other documents to promote UMB Student Affairs programming, initiatives, resources, and other student services. Negotiate terms and conditions with some latitude. Track metrics associated with communication and marketing programs and initiatives. Collaborates with departments/areas within UMB Student Affairs, UMB Schools/Programs, and other campus partners to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize tools (e.g., Analytics, Tableau, custom dashboards) to monitor student engagement, satisfaction, and other outcomes. Research, write, edit, and summarize content for inclusion in marketing materials for distribution and the web. Assist with general administrative and finance functions, including management of a communications and marketing budget. Perform other duties as assigned. /Senior Student Marketing Specialist/ Recommends and implements strategies to achieve marketing goals for UMB Student Affairs, including its departments, programming, initiatives, resources, services, and facilities. Leads collaborative marketing efforts for large-scale initiatives, including the Fall Kick-Off, the centralized New Student Orientation, and university-wide student surveys. Independently manages or administers programs, processes, projects, or resources. Performs market research projects to improve current or future efforts. Prepares, manages, and executes student communications, e-newsletters (e.g., Campus Life Weekly), press releases, and marketing information for media and communication distribution. Ensures the image of UMB Student Affairs, including departments and initiatives, are positively maintained. Produces informational items such as brochures, direct mail, flyers, e-boards, social media posts, and other means of advertising to promote UMB Student Affairs departments, programming, initiatives, facilities, and services. Consults with students and University partners to ensure communication and marketing efforts meet the intended outcomes. Researches and creates novel approaches to market and communicate UMB Student Affairs special events, services, or initiatives. Identifies needs and develop communication strategies with marketing specifications including defined outcomes and deadlines. Coordinates operational effectiveness within the marketing function to ensure projects specifications and defined outcomes are met. Generates communications and marketing related proposals, annual reports, and other documents to promote UMB Student Affairs programming, initiatives, resources, and other student services. Independently develop and manage projects and initiatives with guidance from the Chief Student Affairs Officer/Vice President as needed. Maintains a database or other records of projects. Develops and applies graphic and brand standards for use in marketing and communications in compliance with university standards. Track metrics associated with communication and marketing programs and initiatives. Collaborates with departments/areas within UMB Student Affairs, UMB Schools/Programs, and other campus partners to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize tools (e.g., Analytics, Tableau, custom dashboards) to monitor student engagement, satisfaction, and other outcomes. Performs administrative duties as needed, which includes monitoring and developing web content for UMB Student Affairs websites in collaboration with staff within each department/area. Manages a communications and marketing budget. Performs other duties as assigned. /Student Marketing Specialist/ Education:Bachelor's degree. Degree in marketing, advertising, graphic design, communications, journalism, business, or related field of study is preferred. Experience:Two (2) years of experience in marketing, communications, public or client relations, preferably within a higher education setting. Other:Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience.
