Position Summary:
Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong foundation in US GAAP and a passion for solving complex accounting challenges? Join our growing team as a Technical Accounting Manager and take ownership of key technical areas including revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, goodwill impairment, fair value analysis, and more. You'll collaborate across departments and with senior leadership to ensure compliance, accuracy, and transparency in our financial reporting.
This position is in Houston, TX working onsite Monday - Thursday and a ½ day on Fridays.
Essential Duties:
Lead Revenue Recognition Activities
Coordinate the consolidation and analysis of revenue data; ensure alignment with other financial disclosures and support SEC footnote preparation.
Oversee Stock-Based Compensation Accounting
Collaborate with HR, FP&A, and executives to calculate, analyze, forecast, and disclose stock-based compensation expenses.
Perform Goodwill Impairment Analysis
Conduct annual impairment testing and provide supporting documentation for executive and audit review.
Drive Fair Value Calculations for Acquisitions
Work with Business Development and executive leadership to determine assumptions and model fair value for acquired entities.
Develop Pro Forma Financial Statements
Support significant transactions by preparing accurate pro forma financials for SEC and internal use.
Handle Other Key Technical Topics
Manage accounting for EPS, and non-controlling interests, and participate in quarterly FERC filings for JVs.
Research & Advise on Technical Accounting Issues
Draft technical memos, lead policy reviews, and stay up-to-date on evolving standards that may impact financial reporting.
Collaborate Cross-Functionally
Partner with Financial Reporting, FP&A, HR, Internal Audit, and External Auditors to streamline reporting processes and ensure accuracy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting (Required)
3-5 years of public accounting or corporate technical accounting/reporting experience (Required)
Strong knowledge of US GAAP (Required)
CPA license (Preferred)
Experience in the oil & gas/midstream industry (Preferred)
Advanced Excel skills (Preferred)

Salary Range: SolomonEdwards values your unique and individual experience and background. As such, we take a comprehensive approach when determining compensation for our roles. The compensation for this specific role is based on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to education, licensure and certifications, location, experience, and training. A reasonable estimate for the current hourly range for this role is $70 - 75.
