SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position requires an experienced DevOps Engineer or Systems Administrator who will deliver formal classroom instruction on the implementation, design, automation, and administration of DevOps technologies, infrastructure automation, and containerized environments. The instructor will be responsible for preparing, maintaining, and securing the training environment while ensuring students gain hands-on experience with modern infrastructure automation and deployment methodologies.
The instructor will serve as a primary trainer for the customer's DevOps-related courses and provide student evaluations through written examinations, quizzes, practical assessments, and other necessary training exercises. Additionally, the instructor will contribute to the development and customization of curriculum materials to accurately train students on industry best practices in automation, containerization, and systems management.
Deliver instruction on Kubernetes (RKE2), Ansible, Git, Linux, Python, and project management methodologies, ensuring students gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Provide secondary instruction on VMware, GitLab, and Moodle as required.
Train students on infrastructure automation, containerization, and orchestration within Kubernetes (RKE2).
Maintain the training environment, including deploying and managing labs using automation tools.
Provide input on curriculum development, including lab exercises and real-world scenarios that reflect industry best practices.
Conduct student evaluations through written exams, quizzes, hands-on labs, and practical assessments.
Stay current with industry trends and certifications to ensure course content remains relevant.
Ensure compliance with DoD 8140/8570 cybersecurity workforce requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Required Skills:
5 years of IT and/or software experience.
Must comply with DoD 8140 workforce framework (replacing 8570.01-M) for cybersecurity workforce qualification
Expertise in Kubernetes (RKE2 or K8s), Ansible, Git (GitHub/GitLab), Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu), and Python scripting.
Strong experience in infrastructure automation, system administration, and containerized workloads.
Working knowledge of VMware (vSphere/ESXi), GitLab, and Moodle administration.
Familiarity with configuration management, monitoring tools, and security best practices.
Ability to design and implement hands-on lab environments for DevOps training.
Preferred Certifications
Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE, or equivalent practical experience
CKA / CKAD (Certified Kubernetes Administrator/Developer)
CCNA (Still considered a plus)
VMware certifications or equivalent practical experience
Project+, PMP, or Agile/Scrum certification (for project management component)
Additional Requirements

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor students with various experience levels.
Ability to work in a classified or unclassified training environment as needed.

The likely salary range for this position is $114,525 - $149,500. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
