General Atomics (GA), and its affiliated companies, is one of the world's leading resources for high-technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

The Software Engineer will work in a small, agile company environment on the software running the next Electro-optical/Infrared (EOIR) satellite imagers for the United States Space Force. The Engineer will work closely with Software and Electrical Engineering teams on the embedded software team in Acton, MA.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Applies basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems.

Performs functional testing of equipment and systems by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles.

Obtains and analyzes test data.

Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions, and communicates results to project engineering staff.

May be required to make technical presentations to project staff.

May provide direction to design staff or technicians.

Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Performing software design, implementation, and unit test of software components for embedded systems.

Performing hardware and software integration efforts

Writing software to support automated verification of the software running on hardware

Supporting hardware and software in developing tools for analysis

Job Qualifications:

Typically requires a bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.

High-level programming languages

C++ Python

Linux operating system experience with Linux programming desirable

Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills with software and hardware

Understanding of the principles of Electrical Engineering and digital circuits

Good communication, computer, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other professionals, to produce appropriate documentation, and to present results to a limited internal audience.

Must be able to work both independently and on a team.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required
