Omnicell is seeking an experienced and hands-on Manager of Software Engineering to lead our development team in creating innovative healthcare technology solutions. This role will be responsible for overseeing both new and legacy systems, ensuring that our software development efforts meet the evolving needs of healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of the healthcare industry to drive our software initiatives forward. They will also be a team player that collaborates effectively across the organizations to ensure high quality solutions delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Collaborate with product management and other stakeholders to define and implement software solutions that meet the needs of healthcare providers
Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from design and architecture to deployment and maintenance
Actively participate in hands-on development tasks, including coding, debugging, and troubleshooting both new applications and legacy systems
Ensure adherence to best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, and documentation
Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to deliver high-quality software on schedule
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in healthcare IT
Required Knowledge & Skills
Proven track record of managing/guiding software development teams and projects
Strong technical skills in the following areas:
C# programming language
.NET framework and .NET Core
Experience scaling and deploying applications in the public cloud using technologies like AWS, Docker, Kubernetes.
Extensive experience in healthcare IT, including familiarity with healthcare systems, workflows, and regulations
Knowledge of healthcare standards such as HL7, FHIR, and HIPAA
Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Basic Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor's degree or Associate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 10+ years of relevant experience; or
15+ years of relevant experience without a degree
10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with pharmacy information systems or medication management technologies
Familiarity with Omnicell products and solutions
Knowledge of microservices architecture and containerization technologies
Experience migrating legacy systems to modern cloud-based solutions
Work Conditions
Onshore/Remote environment.
Ability to travel up to 10%
