NCDOT is looking for a highly motivated individual looking for a position with the potential of career advancement. This position will provide all state benefits including paid vacation and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement.
This is an Engineering Technician I position located in the Weaverville Resident Engineers Office involving technical work supporting technicians and engineers as a HiCams/Office Technician. In this position you will perform a variety of office support duties. Duties performed may include preparation of documents and reports, the use of office technology, compiling records, organizing and maintaining files, posting information, scanning, photocopying, etc. In this position you will ensure all HiCams related functions are in compliance with contract agreements, standards and specifications.
You will be required to perform a wide variety of standardized and non- standardized assignments in compiling, analyzing, computing, editing, and processing field data. Lead HiCams technicians are responsible for HiCams functions including processing monthly and final estimates, checking calculations, resolving pay record and material quantity discrepancies, researching project documents, processing material prepayments. Your work involves decision making and the use of judgment. You must perform a full range of calculations and computations and be proficient in record keeping.
Your additional duties include creating requisitions for managing inventory, administering payroll/time entry in SAP system, processing reports in SAP, reviewing project budgets in SAP, reviewing contractor's certified payrolls for FHWA compliance and scheduling, and maintaining technician's certifications. In this position you will also track Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) participation and technician certifications. Work may include other office duties and responsibilities as assigned.
You do not have to have a degree to qualify for this position. Applicants with at least two years of related experience are highly encouraged to apply.

Management prefers applicants with the following:
Knowledge and understanding of general concepts, practices, and theories used in construction, construction inspection, and /or construction surveying
Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking and completing projects independently or with limited supervision
Experience in maintaining neat, legible and accurate records and reports, including computer/iPad data entry
Selected applicant will be expected to legally operate a motor vehicle. Safety toe shoes required.
Offer of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of NCDOT post offer employment evaluation.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
If there are no qualified candidates remaining in the applicant pool who meet the minimum Education and Experience or Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required for the position, the agency may consider for this position, a trainee who does not meet the minimum requirements. Salary for a trainee may be set at a lower level than the classification salary range and recruitment range that is listed in the posting with the salary being adjusted up accordingly when the trainee has obtained the necessary additional education and experience to fully meet the minimum qualifications as outlined in the classification specification.
