Director of Supply Chain Planning/Logistics
The Director of Supply Chain Planning/Logistics is responsible for end-to-end Reverse Logistics operations for all consumer products at AT&T (mobile devices and internet equipment), including recovery/transportation, warehouse, and 3PL management, and supporting the fulfillment of devices for reverse programs like Insurance. This critical position leads an internal team and large-scale vendors, manages a $200M+ Operating Budget, and ensures operational rigor as we process tens of millions of units annually. The role requires managing operational details while also leading the team through significant transformations and new ways of working. It calls for a strategic thinker, strong communicator, and experienced operator.
Overall Purpose: Directs large teams performing Supply Management/Logistics functions including planning and executing efficient transport, inventory planning, materials management, warehouse operations, 3PL Management, and both mobility and broadband refurbishment processes across multiple vendor facilities. Responsibilities include making decisions regarding direction, prioritization, team focus areas, motivation, hiring, firing, disciplinary actions, promotional activity, and pay decisions for subordinates.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead teams responsible for designing, developing, and implementing Supply Chain fulfillment and return strategies to improve customer experience, increase margin, decrease operating cost, and maximize unit utilization in the AT&T ecosystem.
Innovate within AT&T to refurbish, add value, reuse, resell, or recycle every device returned.
Utilize AI, machine learning, and big data tools to evolve supply chain teams and processes.
Leverage industry expertise to maintain a best-in-class supply chain strategy and execution using automation, robotics, and technology.
Develop and grow strategic relationships with suppliers to build business continuity and resiliency.
Align decisions with company strategies and initiatives, including negotiations with internal and external teams.
Manage and mitigate risks in finance, sustainability, business continuity, and compliance.
Ensure key KPIs and operating metrics are met and improved.
Oversee technology systems, applications, and architecture supporting the supply chain.
Manage personnel and administrative functions such as accident prevention, motor vehicle and forklift operations, technical problem resolution, and compliance with company policy.
Coach and develop high-potential employees and champion development and succession planning.
Direct strategic direction for demand forecasting, purchasing, inventory management, warehousing, and transportation.
Ensure inventory levels meet financial and service needs.
Manage regional distribution points and field-level supply replenishment activities.
Lead the establishment and administration of unit objectives, policies, procedures, and systems.
Participate in developing goals and budgets.
Direct in-house fleet management of vehicles, trailers, and heavy construction equipment.
Ensure compliance with Federal (US DOT, OSHA, EPA, NLRB), State (Vehicle Emissions), and Municipal regulatory requirements.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) desired. 10+ years of related experience.
Compensation: Our Director Supply Chain Planning/Logistics earns between $158,200 - $237,400 USD annually. Individual starting salary may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
