Job Title: Environmental Monitoring Lab TechnicianJob Description

The Environmental Monitoring Lab Technician will perform critical tests including bioburden, Total Organic Carbon (TOC), and endotoxin on collected samples. This role requires air sampling, particulate counting, surface monitoring, and personal monitoring of clothing.

Responsibilities

Perform environmental monitoring in controlled areas for non-viable airborne particulate, viable airborne bioburden, viable surface bioburden, settle plate bioburden, and personnel monitoring.

Maintain gowning certification and apply good aseptic technique and clean room behavior.

Collect and process samples for water for Injection (WFI), clean steam, and compressed gases according to established standard operating procedures.

Perform bioburden, endotoxin, TOC, and conductivity testing for utility samples.

Perform sub-culturing and Gram-staining of microorganisms.

Perform growth promotion on incoming media to release for monitoring use in the facility.

Maintain and review temperature records, lab cleaning records, and logbooks.

Input results in Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) database and track microbiological results, following good documentation practices.

Compile and submit environmental monitoring data for critical system release.

Support Scientist/Lead Scientist/Supervisor with testing and special projects, and carry out special projects independently as required.

Promptly report data discrepancies and out-of-limit conditions to supervision, assist with investigation incident reports, and corrective actions as assigned.

Assist in training new departmental personnel in standard operating procedures, training modules, and checklists.

Keep supervisory personnel informed of all relevant events impacting the operations and performance of the department.

Maintain compliance with company policies, training requirements, and cGMPs.

Follow safety requirements and maintain good housekeeping of lab areas, including 5S.

1+ year lab experience

Associate's Degree in a relevant field

Experience in Pharma or any GMP industry

Experience with endotoxin, bioburden, TOC, and USP testing

Work Environment

This position requires 100% onsite work. The Environmental Monitoring Micro group consists of 5 people on each A and B shift. The B shift schedule is from 5:45 AM to 6:15 PM, rotating 2 days on, 2 days off, with every other weekend off. Overtime is on a need basis. The role is to cover an upcoming maternity leave with the potential for assignment extension or conversion to a full-time employee depending on headcount and workload.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
