Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has an immediate opening for a EP&C Electrical Engineer (I-V) located at Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville , Nebraska. Position closes 04/16/2025 at 11:59 p.m. Central Time.
This position will report to the Component Programs Engineering Supervisor.
Position Summary
Note: Level I to Level V Engineer is considered a progression and is approved by the appropriate manager. Engineering positions are managed under the NPPD Nuclear Engineering Career Path document.
Assignments are designed to develop general knowledge of professional engineering practice in the electric utility industry and introduce customer/supplier communication skills.
Education, Training and Experience
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electronic Engineering (ABET Accredited) or Professional Engineering License.

Proficient communication and interpersonal skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and Word Ability to perform cost estimating and scheduling
Technical math and writing skills
Entry into the Nuclear Engineering Support Program (ESP) once hired

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Performs tasks of limited and specific scope under the direction of experienced personnel while completing the initial ESP training program.
Acquire knowledge of assigned components and their design and function to become a recognized subject matter expert for their assigned component groups.
Monitor, trend and communicate assigned component performance, and recommend preventive maintenance to improve component reliability using state of the art technology.
Work cross-functionally with Maintenance, Operations, and other Engineering personnel to maintain long range plan for refurbishment and replacement of assigned components.
Be the driving force on the site for implementing new technology to improve electrical component reliability utilizing new and emerging technology.
Provide technical basis information when required to assist Operations in determining the operability of assigned components.
Engineering Studies - Activities and associated skills which are required to analyze the technical and economic feasibility of new construction projects, modifications to existing systems or equipment, or changes in operation or maintenance of existing systems or equipment.
Operations and Maintenance Support - Activities and associated skills which are required to provide technical support to the operation and maintenance of existing equipment or systems.
Maintain awareness of industry trends and initiatives by participating in periodic industry program owner groups for assigned components.
Customer Relations - Activities and associated skills which are required to support the customers' business needs.

Salary Information - Nebraska Public Power District offers a competitive starting salary with opportunities for growth. In addition to the base salary range listed below, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range. Successful applicants will be provided more information regarding the incentive program at the time of an interview.
Engineer I - Exempt pay grade 12: $6,638 - $9,433 Monthly
Engineer II - Exempt pay grade 13: $7,445 - $10,579 Monthly
Engineer III - Exempt pay grade 14: $8,466 - $12,367 Monthly
Engineer IV - Exempt pay grade 15: $9,715 - $14,190 Monthly
Engineer V - Exempt pay grade 16: $11,145 - $16,280 Monthly

In addition to the base salary listed in posting, NPPD employees may also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program (AIP) that may supplement total compensation at a level above and beyond the stated salary range.
Retirement Savings
NPPD employees may participate in two retirement plan options - a 401(k) plan and a 457(b) plan. Both plans allow for pre-tax or Roth contributions. After the first six months of employment, the 401(k) plan includes a generous matching contribution from NPPD. The five-year vesting period begins on an employee's hire date. Our retired employees are eligible for retiree healthcare benefits as well as a life benefit paid out to designated beneficiaries upon their passing.
