We are in search of an Accounting Specialist to join our clients team in the food and food processing industry located in Omaha, Nebraska. The Accounting Specialist will be responsible for maintaining various accounting records, managing accounts payable and receivable, and providing minor human resources support. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities:

Handle accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate and efficient processing

Maintain and update various accounting documentation in a timely manner

Support financial operations by assisting in monthly account reconciliations and financial close

Manage and maintain record keeping of hours worked, vacation accrued and taken, and adherence to attendance policy

Implement and modify recordkeeping and accounting systems, leveraging current computer technology

Work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively

Ensure adherence to GAAP basic accounting procedures and maintain general ledger accounts accurately

Perform cost accounting and cash management tasks

Identify opportunities for fiscal effectiveness and efficiency, and implement solutions

Complete bank reconciliations in a timely, proper, and accurate manner

Handle payroll processing, report payroll information, and ensure accurate and timely performance of payroll functions

Maintain payroll records in compliance with state and federal regulations and provide payroll information regarding merit increases to managers as requested

Assist in the hiring process by coordinating job postings, reviewing resumes, performing telephone interviews, and reference checks

Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements, and keep employee records up-to-date by processing employee status changes in a timely manner

Handle benefits enrollment for new employees and reconcile the benefits statements

Assure compliance with COBRA guidelines by preparing letters and other paperwork as directed, and receive and record COBRA insurance premium payments.

Requirements - Minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within the Food & Food Processing industry

Proven experience with account reconciliation

Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

Previous experience with billing procedures is essential

Must possess strong data entry skills

Experience in invoice processing is required

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must

Experience with Oracle software is highly desirable

Familiarity with QuickBooks software is a plus

Knowledge of SAP software is an asset

Previous experience in payroll management is necessary

Must have experience handling invoices
