Join the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) and help shape the future of space and defense technology! We are looking for a talented Materials and Process Engineer to be part of our innovative team.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute contamination control efforts in compliance with industry standards (ASTM, IEST, NASA, MIL)

Work closely with Engineers and mission assurance to identify and implement approved MandP for aerospace programs

Perform special material processes, such as precision cleaning of sensitive parts, chemical etching to promote bond adhesion or reduce surface defects, applying specialty coatings, annealing, and stress relief

Work with Mechanical Engineering and senior Scientists to develop, validate, and/or update documented SDL material processes

Develop new materials and process capabilities

Support program preparation and execution of thermal vacuum and space environment testing

Process data and generate technical test reports

Draft program mission assurance documents (contamination control plans, material usage lists, etc.)

Support assembly of flight hardware

Required Qualifications:

BS in materials science, chemistry, or related laboratory science field

Experience in proper handling of chemicals

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security

Experience with high vacuum equipment and best practices

1-5 years of applicable research or industry experience

Analytical chemistry laboratory experience

Ability to maintain stable processing conditions to achieve reproducible and consistent results

Attention to detail, especially in a laboratory setting

Data processing experience with common software tools (Excel, Matlab, Labview, etc.)

Experience operating quantitative chemical analysis instrumentation (GCMS, FTIR, etc)

Familiarity with the space environment

Process control, with experience in development and execution of standard operating procedures

Salary Range

Level One: $67,000 - $91,000

0-5 years of experience with a BS OR

0-3 years of experience with an MS

Level Two: $90,000 - $116,000

5-10 years of experience with a BS OR

3-8 years of experience with an MS
