The Ford Foundation Equity Initiative (FFEI) Internship Program at The Henry Ford is a cohort-based program that offers professional development, mentorship and networking opportunities. We invite diverse candidates* who are curious about careers in the museum world to become a part of our legacy and take it forward. For Summer 2026, internships will last 12 weeks, projected to begin on May 26th and conclude on August 21st.

The Ford Foundation Equity Initiative Internship Program Overview and Time Commitment

The FFEI Internship Program's mission is to offer opportunities in museum work to emerging professionals who identify with historically marginalized groups and to invite our interns to think outside the box and explore their careers in new ways.

Participants will engage in the program through various bi-weekly professional development workshops hosted on our Dearborn campus. Workshops typically occur on Wednesdays during the work week. It is mandatory for participants to attend, and applicants should work with their leadership to ensure proper attendance.

Attendance to our Intern Orientation is also mandatory. Our Summer 2026 orientation will occur on May 26th, 2026.

How will we work together?

The inHub Marketing Intern can expect to work on a hybrid basis, with a majority of your time being spent working remotely. Based on specific project needs, there are times when you and the team will work on-site at The Henry Ford's campus in Dearborn, Michigan. The inHub Marketing Intern will collaborate with our inHub Marketing team to implement inHub marketing strategies. Your lead will be the inHub Marketing Specialist who will mentor and guide you throughout your time with us.

As our inHub Marketing Intern, you will work with the marketing team to develop social media content and campaigns that showcase The Henry Ford's inHub portfolio of products and services for educators, including the Invention Convention program. We are looking for an intern who can help us review existing content, identify future content and develop social media campaigns to showcase the inHub portfolio to the educator community and help us grow awareness of our offerings and increase our user base.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Identifying content to be utilized on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn.

Capturing and editing photo and video content of onsite programs to be shared on social media.

Developing social media copy and design elements that align with The Henry Ford, inHub and Invention Convention Worldwide's brand voice, mission and vision.

Implementing approved social media posts by scheduling via Sprout Social.

Assisting with research and data analysis to help inform marketing strategies.

Developing additional marketing materials to promote awareness of inHub's programs.

Working collaboratively with team members throughout the Learning and Engagement and Marketing teams.

What should you have?

The inHub Marketing Intern should have an interest in marketing and communications, as well as an interest in elementary and secondary education through academic, professional or volunteer experience. Candidates must be available June 2-5th for onsite support of Invention Convention U.S Nationals.

Here are a few extras that could enhance your candidacy, but are not required:

Experience with Canva.
