Purpose

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for equipment installation, electrical support, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical systems and machinery on a production line. Follow safety procedures to ensure equipment runs efficiently and safely.

Key Responsibilities

Installation and maintenance:

Setting up, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery. Ability to perform emergency repairs alone or with assistance.

Troubleshooting:

Diagnosing and fixing problems with machinery to ensure continuous production.

Technical support:

Reading technical drawings, schematics, and manuals to understand complex systems.

Process documentation:

Complete work orders accurately and on time.

Process improvement:

Implementing principles like

Lean Manufacturing

to improve efficiency and reduce waste.

Safety compliance:

Following safety procedures and using protective gear, especially when working with complex machinery or in hazardous environments.

Required skills and qualifications

Technical knowledge:

Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.

Mechanical aptitude:

Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and operate machinery.

Problem-solving:

Capacity to analyze information, troubleshoot and diagnose problems with equipment.

Reading comprehension:

Ability to interpret operational and technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics.

Communication:

Clear verbal and written communication for teamwork and reporting.

Record-keeping:

Strong organizational skills for maintaining maintenance logs and other records.

Education

General industrial mechanical maintenance and/or electrical system experience preferred

High School Diploma or GED Preferred
