Materials Handling Technician

Seeking full-time materials handling technician to assist in the collection and processing of recyclable materials. Experience operating forklift and skid steer helpful will train. Must be 18 or older.

Description:

Full-time, (40 hours per week), Monday-Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm,

some Saturdays and overtime (these hours are subject to change)

Operate warehouse equipment including skid steer, forklift, and

baler.

Assist with recycling walk-in on an as-needed basis including

sorting of recyclables and acceptance of used oil, oil filters, batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, electronic wastes, and aerosol cans.

Assist with picking-up materials from District facilities.

Perform collection of food wastes for recycling as requested.

Responsibilities:

Become familiar with, and proficient on, all equipment at the

districts 224 Church Street facility in Lyndonville.

Immediately report any abnormal equipment functions to the

Operations Manager or Executive Director.

Operate equipment in a safe manner and according to the

manufacturers specification at all times

Become familiar with all recyclable materials accepted by the

district.

Reject materials that are not accepted for recycling.

Loading and unloading trucks and containers.

Interact with residents in a friendly and courteous manner.

Present oneself in a professional manner at all times.

Adherence to the NEKWMD Administrative Rules (most recent version)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Willingness and ability to interact with the general public in a

positive manner.

Willingness and ability to interact with coworkers in a positive

manner.

Physical labor including, but not limited to lifting (40lbs),

sweeping, and standing for extended periods.

Knowledge of VOSHA safety rules and regulations.

Experience working with and operating large machinery (baler,

forklift, skid steer, etc.) desirable, but not mandatory.

Valid State of Vermont Drivers License a plus
