Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for designing, integrating, and improving manufacturing processes, as directed by the Mechanical Engineering/Fabrication Manager, to increase productivity and maximize profit.

Managing manufacturing engineering projects with cross-functional teams; applying continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness; troubleshooting new or existing product issues involving designs, materials, or processes; performing engineering calculations and FEA to validate designs

Investigating and resolving operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks in production; identifying opportunities and implementing improvements to manufacturing processes and products using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, product design, and materials and parts; designing components and systems to meet industry standards and regulations, with expertise in sheet metal design, weldments, CNC machining, and additive manufacturing (3D printing); using SolidWorks CAD software and SolidWorks Simulation to evaluate new equipment designs provided for proto@type testing;

Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings to guide design decisions and ensure compatibility across systems; analyzing and reverse engineering test results of current products to modify design elements or systems as needed

Investigating equipment failures to diagnose faulty operation and recommend product and/or equipment improvements; and providing guidance to manufacturing personnel for improvements in product manufacturing.

Qualifications

Position requires:

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

12 months of experience in a mechanical engineering position (may be paid or unpaid) to include at least three months with each of the following; in lieu of three months of experience with these topics, employer will accept three credit hours of postsecondary coursework covering these topics:

Project management.

Working with cross-functional teams.

Performing engineering calculations and FEA to validate design.

Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical drawings.

Designing components and systems to industry standards and regulations.

Sheet metal design.

3D printing (additive manufacturing).

Weldments (welding and joining processes).

SolidWorks CAD software and SolidWorks Simulation.

CNC machining.

Successful completion of drug test and criminal background check upon hire.
