We are seeking a highly experienced part-time Senior Mechanical Engineer to work closely with our government-industry team to help guide the certification process for shipboard equipment. The primary focus of this role is to serve as subject matter expert in certifying naval systems by analysis, with an emphasis on Grade B shock using Dynamic Design Analysis Method (DDAM). The ideal candidate will leverage their extensive knowledge to derive design solutions from documents such as Critical Item Product Functional Specifications (CIPFS). A non-exhaustive list of additional support includes conducting complex shock analysis, lend expertise and make recommendations concerning analysis standards (e.g., NAVSEA 0908-LP-000-3010), support analytical efforts to certify new equipment for shipboard use, support flow and thermal analysis, and translate CIPFS documents and other high-level requirements into tangible design solutions and verifiable technical specifications. This position requires a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.

Highlights of Responsibilities:

Participate in complex shock analysis Share expertise concerning analysis standards such as NAVSEA 0908-LP-000-3010 and the unclassified NLR Memorandum Report 1396. Support analytical efforts to certify new equipment for shipboard use, focusing on integrating hardware with existing ship interfaces. Participate in the conduct and review of flow and thermal analyses to ensure designs meet all operational and environmental requirements for shipboard use. Help translate CIPFS documents and other high-level requirements into tangible design solutions and verifiable technical specifications. Verify designs for shock and vibration compliance using advanced analytical methods, including non-linear and static analysis under specified acceleration conditions. Mentor junior- and mid-level teammates.

Review complex engineering drawings and make recommendations concerning analytical soundness, manufacturability, and standards compliance.

Provide input for routine administrative reports; support development of customer briefs and reports.

Required Education, Experience, and Certifications:

Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical, or related engineering program. Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD. Expert-level proficiency with Finite Element Modeling and Postprocessing (FEMAP) and NEi NASTRAN. Experienced with SolidWorks Flow. Senior-level understanding of shock and vibration; drawings and tolerancing; fabrication, materials, and integration; transportability; and, environmental and systems. Experience with Microsoft suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook). Eligible to obtain and maintain a Security clearance.

Travel:

No travel is currently expected for this position.
