Automation Technician 1

Automation Technician Level 1 will provide technical support to both Engineering/Technical Staff as well as Manufacturing.

The job function of the Automation Technician 1 will include:

Assisting Engineering/Technical Staff with the assembly, implementation, and support of automated and semi-automated manufacturing systems as well as various related accoutrements which will include manual wiring and fabrication

Assist with diagnosing/troubleshooting high level issues that occur on manufacturing systems and determining the solution(s) for repair

Assisting with the creation of support documentation for automated and semi-automated manufacturing systems and related accoutrements

Assisting with overall process/automated system improvement

Performing higher level system maintenance tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

The candidate will preferably have the following qualifications:

Is a team player that is considerate of their co-workers and will treat everyone with respect

Some college or training related to the field of Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and/or Robotics

Capable of lifting at least 35 lbs.

Good communication skills

Past mechanical/electical/construction employment or skilled hobbies (ex. working on cars, plumbing, machine shop, woodwork, metal art, etc. )

Able to operate a computer system, and can at minimum use word processing software and spreadsheets. PLC programming a big plus.

Has the ability to problem solve with limited supervision

Understands the purpose and usage of basic hand and machine tools (drills, taps and dies, wrenches, soldering irons, etc.)

Understands the function and usage of a multimeter

Has a basic understanding of AC/DC electronics and the function of different components (transformers, power supplies, relays, etc.)

Has a basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics - Has knowledge of safe working practices relating to electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics

Ability to interpret/create a wiring diagram

Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and can comprehend dimensional tolerancing

Understands coordinate systems as relates to CNC mills, cartesian coordinate robots

Good diagnostic ability.
