Experience:

0-5 years or more experience required.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

College level course work in electrical power systems preferred.

Language: English required (Spanish is a plus) to communicate with clients and staff.

Driver's License:

Valid drivers license and be in compliance with the Companys Driving Program policy.

Requirements:

Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards as they pertain to substation and transmission facilities; fundamentals of electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, engineering design and techniques, construction methods and specifications, project estimating and scheduling, and applicable standards.

Ability to coordinate, organize, and prioritize tasks; perform complex calculations and operate personal computer with engineering software and AutoCad applications.

Ability to design electrical systems, comprehend project cost estimates, perform complex substation reports (e.g.: grounding grid reports, equipment inspection reports), meet project deadlines, and develop design and construction documents.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with officers, managers, fellow employees, and the general public.

Ability to maintain a strong sense of propriety concerning confidential matters.

Duties:

Under the general supervision of the Supervisor - Substation Engineering, is responsible for the preparation of engineering designs and construction specifications, procurement of construction materials and/or services by contractors and the inspection and compliance of the assigned substation projects.Serves as point of contact between the company and vendors/manufacturers for equipment information and problem resolution. Performs equipment evaluations and gathers and analyzes field data.

Prepares engineering design plans, layout, schematics, and technical drawings for the construction of new and/or existing high voltage substation facilities and related components.

Estimates costs for capital budgets on the construction of substation projects.

Prepares economic analysis on engineering alternatives to facilities and equipment.

Prepares bid specifications for the construction, expansion and modification of substation facilities and equipment.

Performs research, field work, construction specifications, drawing preparation and material scheduling for the construction of the substation project.

Provides substation engineering technical support during and after the project construction.

Assists with the planning and budget of construction of future substation facilities.

Responsible for the procurement of high voltage equipment and overseeing the delivery process of it.
