Job Description and Duties

The Energy Commission seeks an Electric Generation System Specialist I (EGSS I) to perform technical and analytical work supporting California's electric generation planning and clean energy initiatives. The EGSS I will develop and analyze energy and EV charging infrastructure data, and implement data management solutions to ensure accuracy and compliance with state standards, such as charging station utilization or reliability data. The primary focus of this position will be to work with electric vehicle charging infrastructure data. This entails the collection and processing of large datasets from internal and external data sources.

This role includes participating in project teams, preparing reports and briefings, performing technical analyses and serving as a liaison to stakeholders, including agencies, private partners, and the public. The EGSS I will also develop educational tools, conduct workshops, and respond to technical inquiries to support program participation and compliance for both internal and external stakeholders.

Working Conditions

The CEC supports a hybrid workplace model with office-based and remote-centered workers. Limited in-person attendance and occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. This position is remote-centered, which means the incumbent works 50 percent or more of their time from an alternate work location.

Teleworking is only available for employees who reside in California. You must be located in California and provide your in-state address prior to your start date. Regular and consistent attendance is essential to successful performance. Occasional travel may be required based on the needs of the division.
