The City of South Jordan's Engineering Department is looking for a Full-Time Engineering Services Administrative Assistant to provide administrative and customer service support for Engineering Services, Building and Planning. This position plays an important role in helping residents, contractors, developers, and City staff navigate department processes while keeping information, documentation, and daily operations organized and on track.

What You'll Do:

Provide administrative and front-desk support, including answering and routing calls, relaying messages, and assisting customers in person.

Assist residents, contractors, developers, and City officials with questions about department services and processes.

Prepare and coordinate department communications, meeting materials, minutes, notices, agreements, and other administrative documents.

Receive and process development applications and building permits, including coordinating documentation, revisions, resubmittals, payments, bonds, and applicable clearances.

Schedule building inspection requests and assist with certificates of occupancy or completion and utility clearances.

Coordinate development-related documentation and plat recording with external stakeholders and the County Recorder.

Help maintain organized department records and support records management requirements.

Who You Are:

A high school graduate (or equivalent) with at least one year of experience in office administration, customer service, or related duties, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

A strong communicator who provides professional, helpful customer service-even when situations are challenging.

Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and interruptions.

Comfortable using Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel, Adobe software, and other standard office technology.

A collaborative team member who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new processes and technology.

Able to build positive working relationships with coworkers, City officials, public agencies, contractors, developers, and members of the public.

A holder of a valid Utah Class D Driver License. Local government experience and a Utah Notary Public license are preferred.
