Job Duties Responsibilities:

? Performs intermediate professional work assessing and delivering instructional and clinical

services to individual and small groups of students with physical therapy needs, and related work

as apparent or assigned

? Provide physical therapy screening and assessment to students being evaluated for special

education services or receiving special education services

? Use the Minnesota Department of Education Guidelines for Occupational and Physical Therapy

for decisions regarding service provision

? Provide intervention, including direct treatment, consultation and follow-up to students, birth to

22 years of age, determined to be in need of education-based therapy.

? Assist team in determining specific, reasonable and appropriate educational plan including goals

and objectives

? Measure intervention outcomes through periodic monitoring and data collection

? Select, prescribe, and provide services supporting effective use of assistive technology devices

? Collaborate with other professionals and families.

? Attend IEP/IFSP team meetings to communicate student progress and provide input to the teams.

? Use communication skills that take into consideration educational and physical therapy needs and

the cultural values of others

? Document services for accountability and related third-party (MA) billing requirements

? Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Education Required Minimum Qualifications:

? Possession of a Master's degree or Doctorate in physical therapy from a school accredited by the

American Physical Therapy Association (ATPA)

? Current Minnesota State Licensure as Physical Therapist

? Ability to maintain reliable and regular attendance

? Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds

? Ability to perform position responsibilities including physical factors, work devices and materials

handling, data functions, and people functions.

? Must be physically working in school buildings

Minimum Experience Required Preferred Qualifications:

? Previous work experience with children or in a school setting is beneficial

? Prior successful experience in rural education is desirable

Physical Requirements:

? Working with parents/staff/outside agencies across multiple school districts

? Normal school working conditions

? Ability to travel between school building and work sites
