Commercial Construction & Maintenance Technician

Pay range: $20.00 -- $35.00 per hour, depending on experience, skills, certifications, and qualifications.

Position Summary

We are a commercial property management company seeking an experienced and versatile Commercial Construction & Maintenance Technician to support our portfolio of primarily warehouse properties, along with select office and retail spaces.

In this role, you will perform a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and improvement projects, helping ensure our properties remain well-maintained, operational, and responsive to tenant needs. No two days are the same, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys diverse work and takes pride in seeing projects through from start to finish.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform general commercial construction, tenant improvements, and remodeling projects.

Complete building repairs, preventative maintenance, and property improvement tasks.

Install, repair, and maintain drywall, flooring, doors, windows, trim, and other building components.

Perform drywall finishing, painting, patching, and related cosmetic repairs in tenant spaces and common areas.

Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical components including lighting, outlets, switches, breakers, and wiring.

Perform plumbing repairs and installations, including fixtures, drains, leaks, water heaters, and related systems.

Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and infrastructure to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.

Perform preventative maintenance on building systems and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.

Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, project specifications, and maintenance documentation.

Respond promptly to service requests and maintenance issues while providing excellent customer service to tenants.

Coordinate with property managers, tenants, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely completion of repairs and projects.

Safely operate hand tools, power tools, construction equipment, and company vehicles.

Support snow removal operations and landscape maintenance for parking lots, sidewalks, and common areas. This position may require overnight or early-morning work during snow events.

Complete work orders accurately and maintain records of labor, materials, inspections, and completed tasks.

Maintain company

tools, equipment, vehicles, and a professional appearance at all times.

Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial property maintenance, construction, or related building trades preferred.

Demonstrated skills in multiple trades, including carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance.

Solid understanding of commercial building systems, preventative maintenance practices, and facility operations.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, building plans, specifications, and work orders.

Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Experience safely operating hand tools, power tools, construction equipment, and maintenance-related machinery.

Familiarity with building codes, OSHA regulations, safety standards, and contractor coordination.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a professional, courteous, and customer-focused approach.

Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to set a positive example, support team members, and contribute to a collaborative work environment.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation.

Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks.

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including winter snow removal operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with warehouse, industrial, retail, and office properties.

Knowledge of tenant improvement projects and commercial remodeling.

Experience coordinating with vendors, contractors, and property management teams.

Certifications or specialized training in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, construction, or other building trades are a plus.

Schedule

Day Shift

Monday through Friday

Occasional overtime as needed

Overnight or early-morning hours may be required during snow removal operations

No on-call rotation required
