The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Loan Program Manager to lead and grow our portfolio of loan programs while serving as a trusted advisor to small businesses. This role blends commercial lending expertise, underwriting discipline, and community engagement with a genuine passion for helping entrepreneurs succeed.

The Loan Program Manager is both a steward of capital and a visible ambassador of Springfield SBDC, working closely with banks, business owners, board members, and community partners to deploy resources responsibly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Loan Program Leadership

Manage all aspects of Springfield SBDC loan programs, from promotion and origination through closing, servicing, and payoff

Ensure compliance with program guidelines, internal controls, and reporting requirements

Prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for funders, boards, and stakeholders

Business Development & Outreach

Actively promote loan programs through ongoing relationship-building with banks, accountants, attorneys, economic developers, elected officials, and civic organizations

Serve as a visible, trusted presence in the regional small business ecosystem

Loan Origination & Underwriting

Meet with prospective borrowers to assess financing needs and program eligibility

Guide clients through application requirements, documentation, and readiness

Analyze business and personal financial statements, projections, and feasibility

Prepare clear, well-supported credit memoranda and financial analyses

Present loan requests to the Loan Review Committee and Board of Trustees

Loan Closing & Servicing

Coordinate loan closings with banking partners and legal counsel
