Job Purpose:

Helps developmentally delayed and at-risk children and their families by providing multidisciplinary child and family assessments and interventions.

Duties:

Assesses children with developmental delays and at-risk children by selecting assessment instruments; evaluating cognitive, adaptive behavior, social-emotional, self-care, fine motor, gross motor, and communication development; participating in multidisciplinary assessments.

Reports test results by interpreting, analyzing, and documenting data; routing reports.

Develops care plan by coordinating the interdisciplinary assessment team; sharing information, determining roles; advocating consultation with other professionals; determining services required.

Provides individual and group interventions by scheduling, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the intervention plan; maintaining referral, advocacy, service planning, and crisis support.

Educates families by providing family-focused activities; keeping parents informed of current child development trends and practices related to the needs of their child.

Helps families act as advocates for their child by establishing and maintaining relationships with families; providing supportive assistance to families; facilitating parent-child interactions; encouraging parents to participate in as normal a lifestyle as possible.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Accomplishes child development/medical center objectives by establishing standards and procedures; measuring results against plans and standards; evaluating and improving methods; making required changes.

Avoids legal challenges by keeping client information confidential.

Improves quality results by studying and evaluating new trends; re-designing processes; implementing improvements.

Serves and protects the medical centercommunity by adhering to professional standards, medical center policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and jcaho standards.

Enhances child development and medical center reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
