The Copper Country Intermediate School District (CCISD) has an immediate opening for an Accounting Assistant to join their Business Office team in Hancock, Michigan. WHAT WE OFFER.

$20.00 -- $25.00 per hour starting pay based on experience.

Health insurance, or if no health insurance is needed----we'll pay you $661.84/month instead.

WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE.

Process accounts payable, invoices, purchase orders and vendor transactions.

Assist with bank, credit card and account reconciliations.

Process cash receipts and other routine accounting transactions.

Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.

Help prepare records for month-end/year-end close, Workers' Compensation audits and financial audits.

Support employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations and invoice reconciliations.

Help administer district and employee insurance programs.

Answer routine accounting and benefits questions from district staff.

Identify discrepancies and help get issues to the right person for review.

Provide accounting support to participating local school districts, including occasional on-site visits.

Help improve and standardize shared business-office processes.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, benefits or administrative support is preferred, however, recent graduates are encouraged to apply as we do offer structured training and opportunities for advancement.

School district, public-sector finance or accounting software experience is a plus.

Strong attention to detail, accuracy and organization.

Ability to handle confidential employee and financial information appropriately.

Strong communication and customer service skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and follow work through to completion.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for periodic local travel is required.

Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Word with ability to create reports, documents and spreadsheets.
