The Copper Country Intermediate School District (CCISD) has an immediate opening for a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join their team in Hancock, Michigan. WHAT WE OFFER.

$40,000 -- $60,000 annually based on experience.

Health insurance, or if no health insurance is needed----we'll pay you $681.70/month instead.

WHAT YOU'LL DO.

Prepare and process weekly payroll for 20-180 employees across districts we serve.

Manage and maintain payroll system ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Update payroll information, and handle employee inquiries regarding benefits and payroll.

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to payroll and retirement reporting.

Process contract changes, deductions, garnishments, and more.

Prepare and distribute state and federal wage reports, including W-2's.

Support year-end audit preparation and general ledger account reconciliations.

Collaborate with internal teams and third-party administrators for payroll liabilities and vendor payments.

Assist Human Resources/Payroll Coordinator in various tasks.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR.

Associate's degree in Accounting preferred, or minimum of 3 years' relevant payroll-related experience.

Knowledge of basic accounting principles and payroll operations (payroll processing, payroll tax, retirement, insurance, employee benefits, addressing staff requests, etc.).

Strong accounting and/or payroll software experience and ability to handle payroll audits.

Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Google Workspace with ability to create reports, documents and spreadsheets.

Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
