Job Summary:

Apprentice III

Perform as a crew member in the constructionand maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines includingassisting in trouble shooting. To drive and operate bucket trucks, derricktrucks, crane trucks, backhoes, trenchers and wire tensioners as needed in the constructionand maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines.

Apprentice IV

Perform as a crew member in the constructionand maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines includingassisting in trouble shooting. Obtain training and work experience in theposition of Lineman.

Apprentice V

Key Responsibilities:

Drives, sets up, andoperates bucket trucks, derrick trucks, crane trucks, backhoes, trenchers, andwire tensioning and pulling equipment.

2.Pullstrailers hauling poles and equipment.

3.Inspect assigned vehicles, booms, winchcables and trailers for safe operation. Make's Foreman and/or other O&Esupervision aware of mechanical problems.

4.Fillsout daily vehicle inspection log.

5.Maintainstruck stock of material.

6.Operates boom while setting poles inlines energized at 25KV. Operate boom while installing or removing voltageregulators and circuit breakers in energized substation. Operates trencher andbackhoe while digging near gas lines and energized electric cable. All underdirect supervision of Foreman, Journeyman Lineman or Lineman.

7.Climbs poles and works from a Bucket onenergized secondary and de-energized primary lines, that are grounded all underdirect supervision of Foreman, Journeyman Lineman or Lineman.

8.Operates chain saw and cut right ofway.

9.Perform housekeeping and maintainappearance of assigned vehicles.
Work safely. Follow all safety rules.

11.Assists qualified personnel in substationand line switching

12.Assists qualified personnel in URDswitching - must maintain position on the back of the hot-stick
May perform otherduties as outlined in next level Apprentice position as approved by Operations and/orSafety & Training Supervision (when time in position is the onlyrequirement standing between promotion to the next Apprentice level)

14.Under limited and controlledcircumstances, a two-man bucket may be utilized to allow an employee totemporarily perform work one classification above their current role fortraining and developmental purposes. The following conditions must be met:

A Journeyman Lineman or higher classificationmust serve as a designated observer for the duration of the work.

A Lineman Tier II or higher classification mustbe in the two-man bucket with the employee performing the higher-level work.

Authorization to perform work under this provision is not automatic. TheForeman or Crew Leader retains full authority and discretion to approve or denythe use of this provision at any time based on job conditions, employeecompetency, and safety considerations.

1.Must maintain the following:

A.CommercialDriver's License

E.Poletop and bucket truck rescue certification

G.Vault Rescue and Trenching &Shoring

2.Must complete all sections of GreyStone'sstructured Apprenticeship Training Program while at the Apprentice level (III, IV or V).

3.Must take 50% of your Primary oncall rotation.

4.To perform assigned tasks in a mannerconsistent with acceptable standards of performance, which include followingall safety rules and safe work practices while performing those tasks assignedaccurately.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Require high school graduate or equivalent.

Require experience in distribution line workwith a minimum of twelve months in the position of Apprentice II or thirtymonths experience in electrical distribution construction and maintenance.

Must have completed all required trainingelements of Apprentice Lineman II or the equivalent.

Require a valid Georgia Commercial Driver'sLicense. Require D.O.T. certification in traffic flagging and control andforklift operation.

Must have the necessary hand tools andclimbing tools required by the job. Must be able to climb.

Must have proven ability in the operation ofelectric utility system vehicles and equipment.

Must be able to meet Primary and Secondary on-callrequirements.Must be willing to work after hoursto assist in service restoration.

Mustbe willing to serve regularly in the on-call rotation schedule for restoringservice after hours.

Must be able to wear and use all requiredsafety devices and apparel.

Applicantshired into this position have a weight restriction due to safety equipmentlimitations. Weight cannot exceed 290 lbs.

Must satisfactorily pass GreyStone's physical,including a hearing and vision test, drug screening and background check.

Physical Demands (if applicable):

Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Activity of the position includes:

A. Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized. This factor is important if the amount and kind of climbing required exceeds that required for ordinary locomotion.

B. Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces. This factor is important if the amount and kind of balancing exceeds that needed for ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium.

C. Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.

D. Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.

E. Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

F. Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.

G. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.

H. Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time.

I. Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.

J. Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

K. Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

L. Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.

M. Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers, rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.

N. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.

O. Feeling: Perceiving attributes or objects, such as size, shape, temperature, texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.

P. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Q. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds with no less than a 40 lb loss § 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through verbal communication, and to make fine discriminations in sound, such as when making fine adjustments on machined parts.

R. Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motion) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Physical Conditions of the position includes:

A. The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.

B. The worker is subject to extreme cold: Temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

C. The worker is subject to extreme heat: Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.

D. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.

E. The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.

F. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.

G. The worker is subject to atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases or poor ventilation.

H. The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.

I. The worker is required to wear a respirator in certain situations

Visual acuity requirements of the position includes: The worker is required to have the visual acuity (color, depth perception, and field vision) to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
