Recruit and train WE CARE Block Leaders:

Actively recruit new WC Block Leaders: speaking engagements, general conversations in the community, networking

Promote the WC Block Leader program on social media, including statements on the importance of good neighboring to the elderly, the youth and the community at large.

Keep ongoing contact with those who have shown an interest in being Block Leaders

Organize and lead Block Leader trainings, seeking a yearly commitment to be a Block Leader

Support Trained WE CARE Block Leaders

Keep regular contact with trained Block Leaders

Support Block Leaders well-being: remembering birthdays, sending expressions of sympathy, etc.

Organize and lead Block Leader gatherings to be held bi-monthly

Connect Block Leaders to other individuals and resources in the community as neighbor needs arise

Work with the WE CARE Board and Action Team to organize a celebration of the Block Leaders once a year, including a commitment service for the following year

Support WE CARE Block Parties

Assist Block Leaders to plan block parties as needed

With the Executive Director coordinate the use of the WE CARE block party supplies (tables, chairs, games, griddle, etc)

Administration

Develop a budget to support the operations of the Block Leader program

Coordinate activities with on-going communications with the Executive Director

Work with the Executive Director to develop a system to track Block Leader participation and effectiveness

Prepare a written monthly report of your work for the WE CARE Board

Meet periodically with the WE CARE Board and Action Team

Promote the purpose and initiatives of WE CARE Palestine

Needed Requirements

Work hours: maximum of 20 hours/month (or 10 hours every two weeks).

Attend a Community Renewal of Shreveport/Bossier information day

Study to understand the reasons behind WE CARE Palestines model and how and why it is different from other community organizations

Live within Palestine Community

Skills and Personal Traits Needed

Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both written and verbal

Strong organizational skills

Ability to negotiate and problem solve

Must be proficient in Microsoft word and preferable also Microsoft Office

Must have skills or can learn to use Facebook and other social media
