Bookkeeper / Finance Position

Common Thread is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Finance professional to join our office team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to support the financial operations of a mission-driven nonprofit organization providing government grant-funded services.

About the Role

The Bookkeeper/Finance position is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of the organization, including the preparation and tracking of monthly billing invoices, payroll preparation, and management of accounts receivable and accounts payable. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records in support of our grant-funded programs.

Key Responsibilities

Compile, prepare, and track monthly billing invoices

Prepare payroll on a regular schedule

Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing and collections follow-up

Process accounts payable, including vendor payments and expense tracking

Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with GAAP

Support grant-related financial reporting and documentation requirements

Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end and year-end close processes

Provide financial reports and supporting documentation as needed

Qualifications

Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting

Proficiency with QuickBooks

Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Experience with government grant-funded programs is a plus

Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Strong written and verbal communication skills
