General Accountant

Job Description Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President, the General Accountant is based at our at our Surgoinsville, TN operations and responsible for multi-site full cycle accounting including accounts payable/receivable functions, account reconciliations, analysis, financial statement preparation and direct supervision of the Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable/Receivable

Supervise and support Accounts Payable/Receivable clerk, along with providing backup when required.

Set up new vendor accounts and communicate with vendors as required.

Monitor customer account balances, receipts, claims, and unpaid invoices along with performing collections activities when necessary.

Set up new customer accounts, manage customer credit and terms, and communicate with customers as required.

Proficient with the maintenance of accounts payable/receivable records, including editing, checking, and preparing accounts payable/receivable entries and tabulating control statistics.

Cost Accounting

Analyze and implement cost standards for materials and labor.

Assist with the development and maintenance of production reports.

Reconcile inventory accounts on a regular basis.

Lead team for annual inventory counts, adjustments, and reports.

End of Period Reporting

Sales Tax compliance and reporting.

Reconcile and report monthly inter-company transactions.

Reconcile accounts with General Ledger balances (bank, customers, vendors, inventory, etc.).

Maintain fixed asset depreciation schedules. Budgeting and variance analysis reports in support of the Management team.

Assist external auditors in providing reports and documents relevant to their audit.

Reconciling payroll journal entries and GL accounts with hourly and salary payroll data.

Preparation of financial statements and other operational data reporting packages for management review.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Bachelors Degree with a Finance, Accounting or related focus is required (Accounting designation is not required).

Minimum of 5-7 years experience with full cycle accounting in a manufacturing environment is required.

A combination of related education and experience may be considered. Experience with medium/large scale ERP systems (i.e., Acumatica, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, IFS) is required, implementation experience is a plus.

Experience in Management or supervision is an asset.

Experience with multi-site accounting is an asset.

Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills (lookup formulas and pivot tables).

Demonstrated ability for attention to detail.

Demonstrated success in meeting tight deadlines.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong organizational and time management skills.

Above average communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Schedule:

Standard office hours for this role are 7am-5pm Tuesday-Friday. Hours may vary based on needs or other circumstances.

Job Type: Full-time Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
