This Long-term Contract position is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage day-to-day transactional work, maintain accurate records, and contribute to reliable financial reporting. The role partners with internal teams to strengthen accounting processes, support grant-related activity, and help ensure compliance with nonprofit standards and funding requirements.

Responsibilities:

Maintain complete and accurate accounting records by overseeing daily entries across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and the general ledger.

Reconcile bank activity and balance sheet accounts on a routine basis to support timely and accurate month-end reporting.

Administer invoicing and cash application activities, monitor outstanding receivables, and follow up on aging balances when needed.

Process vendor payments, review payable documentation for accuracy, and keep supplier records organized and current.

Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly and annual close activities to ensure financial data is properly recorded.

Produce requested financial analyses and operational reports for finance leadership and other internal stakeholders.

Partner with grant and program teams to prepare billing support, funding documentation, and reports tied to restricted or grant-funded activity.

Help maintain audit-ready files, document accounting procedures, and support compliance with nonprofit accounting rules and applicable grant regulations.

Collaborate across departments to improve workflows, identify efficiencies, and provide financial information for management and board-level reporting. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.

At least three years of accounting experience, with nonprofit experience strongly preferred.

Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Proficiency with accounting systems; experience with NetSuite is preferred.

Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work efficiently with large datasets; familiarity with Excel VBA is a plus.

Knowledge of nonprofit accounting practices, including restricted funds, grant reporting, and compliance requirements, is preferred.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with careful attention to accuracy and deadlines.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work well across diverse teams and stakeholders.
