Job Title: Concrete Team Laborer Job Description
This role supports concrete crews across multiple zones of a large commercial construction project, including stem wall pours, large foundations, and walkway areas. You will work directly in active pour areas, assist with concrete placement and finishing support, and help with form breakdown, site cleanup, and preparation for ongoing work. The position is highly hands-on and requires comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions and early-morning start times.
Responsibilities
Assist concrete teams in different zones of the project, including stem wall pours, large foundations, and walkway areas.
Work in active pour areas (the "mud"), using a come-along to keep concrete level as it flows from the concrete chute.
Support the crew during concrete pours by helping manage concrete distribution and maintaining consistent levels across the pour area.
Assist with breaking down and removing forms once a concrete pour is fully complete.
Clean tools and equipment at the end of each workday to ensure they are ready for the next shift.
Sweep and clean excess concrete debris and overflow from the work site to maintain a safe and organized environment.
Clean and prepare forms after use so they are ready for operators to move to storage or reuse on future pours.
Follow site safety practices and use hand tools and power tools correctly and safely.
Work collaboratively with other crew members and follow direction from supervisors to complete tasks efficiently and on schedule.
Essential Skills
Experience working in construction environments, preferably on concrete or structural projects.
Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively in a construction setting.
Ability to use power tools safely under supervision and according to site safety standards.
Basic familiarity with concrete work, including pours, leveling, and cleanup.
Comfort performing physically demanding labor, including working in wet, muddy, or uneven conditions.
Ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and adapt to changing tasks on a busy job site.
Willingness to work early-morning shifts and extended hours as required by pour schedules.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
OSHA 10 certification is a plus.
Lull, boom lift, or scissor lift certifications are a major advantage.
Previous experience with carpentry tasks related to concrete forming and formwork is beneficial.
Experience cleaning and maintaining construction tools and equipment is helpful.
Why Work Here?
You join a large, active commercial construction project where you can build hands-on experience with concrete work and heavy construction. The schedule offers consistent full-time hours with opportunities for overtime and double time when earned. You work with a coordinated team in a structured environment that values safety, reliability, and teamwork, providing a strong foundation for long-term growth in the construction industry.
Work Environment
This position is based on a large commercial construction site with many crews and activities happening simultaneously. You will work primarily outdoors and will be exposed to Indiana weather, including hot summers and cold winters, so you should be prepared for changing temperatures and conditions. The work involves being in active concrete pour areas and around heavy equipment, using hand tools and power tools regularly. Typical start time for the crew is around 6:00 a.m., but start times may shift earlier to approximately 3:004:00 a.m. to accommodate specific concrete pours and weather-related considerations. The standard schedule runs Monday through Saturday, with Sundays offered as an option for overtime or double time when a full week has been worked. Work attire should be appropriate for a construction site and outdoor conditions, including durable clothing and footwear suitable for muddy and wet environments.
