Medical Lab Technician

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform routine and moderately complex clinical laboratory testing in a fast-paced laboratory environment. This role is responsible for producing accurate and timely test results while maintaining compliance with quality standards, laboratory procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Perform routine and complex laboratory testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation to ensure optimal performance.

Analyze test results and make sound technical decisions related to testing, quality, and problem resolution.

Prepare, evaluate, and implement new reagents, controls, and testing procedures as needed.

Accurately document and report patient test results within established turnaround times.

Perform and document quality control (QC), quality assurance (QA), and preventive maintenance activities.

Assist with specimen receipt, processing, and preparation when required.

Monitor inventory levels and replenish laboratory supplies to support daily operations.

Maintain compliance with laboratory safety protocols and consistently utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Collaborate effectively with laboratory staff to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient workflow.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or another related scientific discipline.

Must meet applicable CLIA, state, and local regulatory requirements for Medical Laboratory Technicians.

1-2+ years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

State Medical Laboratory Technician license may be required depending on location.

ASCP and/or AMT certification preferred; may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Experience working in clinical laboratory environments, including areas such as hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, microbiology, or immunology, is highly desirable.

Proficiency with laboratory instrumentation and computer systems; familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is a plus.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screening.

Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, or alternative shifts based on business needs.

This is a Contract position based out of Charlotte, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
