Job Title: Construction General Laborer Job Description

Join a construction project focused on demolition and restoration work, where you will help prepare and clean up a commercial site. This role involves hands-on tasks using basic construction tools and requires attention to safety, detail, and teamwork throughout the project.

Responsibilities

Perform demolition tasks on a commercial construction site as directed by the site supervisor.

Assist with restoration-related activities following the demolition phase.

Carry out thorough site clean-up, including removal of debris and materials, to maintain a safe and organized work area.

Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks.

Accurately measure materials and spaces using a tape measure as part of daily work.

Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.

Collaborate with other crew members to complete project phases efficiently and on schedule.

Arrive on time and work consistently during scheduled hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Essential Skills

At least 6 months of previous construction experience.

Ability to use a tape measure accurately for measurements.

Experience working with hand tools and power tools in a construction setting.

Basic knowledge of demolition practices and site clean-up procedures.

Ability to follow safety guidelines and work in full personal protective equipment.

Reliability in maintaining a consistent work schedule, Monday through Friday.

Physical ability to perform labor-intensive tasks such as lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Demolition experience is a plus.

Restoration experience is a plus.

Familiarity with commercial construction environments is beneficial.

Comfort working on short-term projects lasting approximately 2 to 4 weeks.

Work Environment

The role is based on a commercial construction project at a bank in Marshalltown and is expected to last approximately 2 to 4 weeks. You will work on-site from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The environment is active and physically demanding, with ongoing demolition and restoration activities. You will be required to wear full personal protective equipment throughout the shift and must provide your own steel-toe footwear. Work is primarily indoors at the project location, with construction tools and equipment in regular use, and adherence to safety protocols is essential.

This is a Contract position based out of Marshalltown, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
