Here's how a(n) Accountantfor our Nassaloffice contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

Performs clerical and data entry support to meet contractual requirements for operational and basic accounting.

Processes all accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner.

Provides project teams with ad hoc reports and analysis as the need arises.

Assists with the assembly of information for internal and external financial reporting requirements.

Assembles client billing packages in accordance with contract terms and conditions and ensures timely payment.

Prepares bank deposits and cash receipt entries. Sales & Use Tax Responsibilities:

Prepare, review, and file multi-state sales and use tax returns in a timely and accurate manner.

Monitor tax compliance requirements and ensure adherence to applicable state and local tax regulations.

Research sales and use tax issues and provide recommendations on taxability and compliance matters.

Reconcile sales and use tax accounts and support audits, inquiries, and assessments from taxing authorities.

Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and accounts payable to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions.

Maintain exemption certificates and support ongoing tax process improvements and compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

High school diploma, Bachelor's degree, or diploma in a related field is considered an asset.

Experience preparing and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns, preferred.

Knowledge of state and local sales/use tax regulations, exemption certificate management, and tax audit support, preferred.

Experience within the construction industry or project-based accounting environment, preferred.

Some student experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting or administrative experience is preferred.

Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting.

Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows.

Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting

Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements.

Basic understanding of lien rights.

Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.

Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software is an asset.
