LEGAL SECRETARY

Civil Litigation | Established Solo Attorney Practice

Salt Lake City, UT | On-Site

A great opportunity is available for an experienced Legal Secretary / Litigation Assistant to join a well-established solo attorney practice specializing in civil litigation.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned legal professional who enjoys a traditional law firm environment, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and wants to become a trusted, long-term member of a close-knit practice.

POSITION DETAILS

Schedule: Monday-Friday

Hours: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Work Arrangement: On-Site

Salary: $55,000-$65,000 annually, depending on experience

ABOUT THE ROLE

The ideal candidate will have hands-on civil litigation experience and be comfortable managing a variety of legal administrative and litigation-support responsibilities with minimal supervision.

You will work closely with the attorney and play an important role in keeping cases, documents, deadlines, and day-to-day office operations organized and on track.

This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, professional, and confident working independently.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Prepare, edit, format, and proofread pleadings, motions, correspondence, and other legal documents

Accurately transcribe attorney dictation and audio recordings

Prepare and file documents with federal and state courts

Track court deadlines, hearings, and important case dates

Maintain organized electronic and physical case files

Assist with litigation-related documentation and case preparation

Communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties

Provide general legal administrative and office support

Help ensure the attorney has accurate and organized information needed to manage active cases

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Previous experience supporting civil litigation matters

Strong legal dictation and transcription skills

Experience with federal and state court e-filing systems

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PDF software, and Excel

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong organization and attention to detail

Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and responsibilities independently

Professional, dependable, and collaborative demeanor

IMPORTANT: Strong Dictation & Transcription Skills Required

This position requires the ability to accurately transcribe attorney dictation and audio recordings. Strong hands-on transcription skills are essential, and AI transcription tools alone will not meet the requirements of this role.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience working with a solo practitioner or small law firm

Previous experience in a traditional law firm setting

Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

Strong legal document formatting and file management skills
