POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for completing and monitoring ledgers through the Bankruptcy process on residential mortgage loans to minimize potential losses and preserve the lien-holder's interests. Conducts all activities in adherence to all applicable investor timelines and in accordance with the company's policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates. The approved target pay range for this position is $26-$27/hour.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Executes and completes ledgers, with a high degree of accuracy, for all Bankruptcy processes including Acquisitions, Proof of Claims, Notice of Final Cures, Motions for Relief, Agreed Orders, Notices of Default and Closings and coordinates corrections as necessary on any Bankruptcy Chapters, or process.
Verifies/research borrower payment history and resolves payment posting discrepancies (i.e., Ledger Balancing).
Receives and responds to incoming calls from bankruptcy attorneys and/or other interested parties with inquiries regarding residential mortgage accounts in the bankruptcy process.
Research and able to remediate files by researching and correcting Fiserv/Sagent, as well as researching servicer data and images for resolution.
Handle the verification of borrower payment histories and resolves payment posting discrepancies.
Receives and processes bankruptcy documents throughout all bankruptcy process. Also creates and orders documents required within the bankruptcy process.
Audits, reviews and completes the set-up bankruptcy filings process, Motion for Reliefs, Proof of Claims, Transfer of Claims, Reaffirmations, Notice of Final Cures, Post-Petition Fee notices, Payment Change Notices and the Closing process for accuracy and thoroughness and coordinates corrections as necessary on any Bankruptcy Chapters.
Handles documentation or analysis processes for the set-up bankruptcy filings, Motion for Reliefs, Proof of Claims, Transfer of Claims, Reaffirmations, Notice of Final Cures, Post-Petition Fee notices, Payment Change Notices and the Closing process.
Gathers and uploads documents such as Assignments of Mortgages, Deeds, Notes, and other documents required for filing actions within the bankruptcy.
Responds to inquiries from internal departments regarding bankruptcy related issues. Handles highly escalated inquiries.
Handles more complex tasks and manual calculations of figures such as Motions for Relief and Proof of Claim figures.
Provide management with root case analysis, proposed solutions to bankruptcy agreements /disputes/ process / research inquiries.
Work with management on several projects and coordinate efforts with project management as well as IT related to the BK processes and/or support groups (i.e., Loan Admin, Loan Application Support, Cash Management, Escrow Department).
Identify process gaps within the bankruptcy processes, make recommendations for continuous improvement, and implement solutions approved by management.
May have signing authority to sign bankruptcy documents on behalf of the company.
Function as the "Trainer" within the department and will provide training on multiple bankruptcy processes as needed.
Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
Strong math skills in order to do manual calculations of figures such as Motions for Relief and Proof of Claim figures.
Ability to manage work in order to meet strict deadlines.
Experience balancing ledgers, advanced math/accounting skills; possible accounting background.
Excellent written and oral communication, organizational, and time management skills
A strong drive to accomplish goals, coupled with high sense of urgency required.
Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and changing priorities.
Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and quality on loan evaluation
Ability to self-motivate and work with limited supervision.
A strong understanding of the bankruptcy process
Ability to make decisions that have moderate impact on immediate work unit.
Ability to organize and prioritize own work schedule on short-term basis.
Ability to network and work with various other default groups - to research and find solutions.
Ability to help improve processes and find sound solutions.
Ability to complete thorough research and being resourceful.
Able to research/locate prior servicer data within [all] Acquisition folders.
High school diploma or equivalent work experience required; bachelor's degree in related field in Accounting or Finance preferred.
Three to five (3-5) years' of bankruptcy experience in the banking, finance, or mortgage industry.
A minimum of two (2) years' experience balancing ledgers.
