Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Kansas City, Kansas. This opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on financial work, can adapt quickly to a busy environment, and takes ownership of day-to-day accounting tasks. The role will contribute to accurate reporting, timely close activities, and smooth transaction processing while working within a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities:

Manage accounts payable activities, including reviewing invoices, preparing payments, and maintaining accurate vendor records.

Perform account reconciliations to ensure balances are complete, properly supported, and resolved in a timely manner.

Assist with month-end closing by preparing journal entries, updating schedules, and helping maintain general ledger accuracy.

Provide limited support for accounts receivable by tracking incoming payments and helping address routine customer account issues.

Use Excel tools such as pivot tables and lookup functions to organize financial data, analyze transactions, and support reporting needs.

Work within the company's accounting and manufacturing systems, including learning Epicor as needed to complete daily responsibilities.

Partner with internal team members to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and keep accounting records current and reliable.

Operate effectively in a workplace connected to firearm manufacturing, remaining comfortable in an environment where products may be visible and audible. Requirements - Previous experience in staff accounting with hands-on responsibility for journal entries, general ledger activity, and account reconciliations.

Working knowledge of accounts payable processes, with additional exposure to accounts receivable support preferred.

Understanding of month-end close procedures and the ability to help complete close-related tasks accurately.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including practical use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.

Ability to learn new systems quickly; experience with Epicor or other manufacturing-related ERP platforms is beneficial.

Self-directed approach to work, with the initiative to manage responsibilities independently and follow through on details.

Strong patience, adaptability, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced operational environment.

Comfort working in a firearm-related manufacturing setting where guns may be seen or heard, though handling them is not required.
