Job Title: Quality Technician - Food Handling and Inspection
Job Description
This role focuses on ensuring product quality and food safety through thorough visual inspections, temperature checks, and adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a cold, refrigerated production environment. You will support quality control and quality assurance activities on the production floor, document inspection results, and help maintain consistent standards for food handling and product integrity.
Responsibilities
Perform visual inspections of food products and packaging to verify quality and compliance with established standards.
Check and record product and equipment temperatures in accordance with food safety and quality procedures.
Follow written procedures, work instructions, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) during all inspection and production activities.
Conduct quality control and quality assurance checks throughout the production process to identify defects or nonconforming products.
Document all inspection results, quality checks, and observations accurately and in a timely manner.
Identify nonconforming products or processes and promptly report issues to leadership for further action.
Support basic inventory-related tasks, such as tracking inspected product and materials as needed.
Collaborate with production team members to maintain consistent product quality and resolve quality-related issues.
Multitask effectively in a fast-paced production environment while managing multiple inspection and documentation activities.
Adhere to all food safety, hygiene, and facility rules while working in a refrigerated, indoor environment.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of experience working with food, such as in a restaurant (cook, expo, server) or in food manufacturing.
Hands-on experience performing visual inspections of food products or related items.
Experience checking and recording temperatures for food safety or quality purposes.
Ability to follow written procedures and work instructions accurately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control and quality assurance standards.
Ability to multitask and manage multiple inspection and documentation tasks in a production setting.
Experience documenting inspections and quality checks in a clear and organized manner.
Ability to identify and report nonconformities to leadership in a timely and professional manner.
Basic inventory experience within a production or food-related environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in food manufacturing inspection, even at a low or entry level, is highly valued.
Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a food production environment.
Comfort working in a structured, procedure-driven environment with repetitive quality checks.
Ability to work collaboratively with production and quality teams in a cold facility.

Work Environment
This role is based in an indoor, cold, refrigerated food production facility where you work directly on the floor performing inspections and quality checks. The primary openings are on 2nd and 3rd shift, with operations running across multiple shifts. This is not a Monday-Friday role; you should expect to work weekends, and the facility is currently operating seven days per week. You receive extensive, hands-on training and work closely with leads in a structured, procedure-driven environment focused on food safety and product quality.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $24.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
