The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs is looking for a part-time Primary Care Physician / Medical Specialist 3 to provide primary physician medical care to Veterans residing at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis. Physicians perform CMS regulatory visits, new admission physical examinations and sub-acute clinical assessments during business hours. Physicians work in coordination with a full-time staff nurse practitioners and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team including Behavioral Therapist, Social Workers and Certified Nurse specialists. The incumbent for this position also will provide cross-coverage for another part-time primary care physician during the work week.
This position is designated as part-time and the incumbent will work three days per week with after-hours/weekend on-call responsibilities per a provider on-call calendar rotation (currently 4 weeks/year). Weekday work schedules are flexible, do not need to be contiguous and can vary weekly depending on the needs and availability of the incumbent.
This is a salaried position and is NOT tied to revenue billing or productivity requirements. State vehicles are available for official travel to and from Minnesota Veteran Home facilities if required because of business needs.
Responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
Provide primary care medical services to Veterans residing at an MVH facility following all state and federal regulatory requirements.
Provide medical services through Minnesota Veterans Homes Medical Clinic Group Practice to ensure that medical coverage for the MVH is complete and timely following the CMS, State of Minnesota, and Veterans Affairs regulations for nursing home care.
Collaborate with the Healthcare Division senior leadership team, the MVH Chief Medical Officer or MVH-Minneapolis Medical Director regarding clinical initiatives that would support and benefit all Minnesota Veterans Homes.
Participate in provider services on-call rotation, as designated.
Potentially travel between MDVA nursing homes as determined by business needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Family Practice or Internal Medicine.
An active, unrestricted Minnesota licensure as a Medical Doctor.
The ability to be credentialed at the Federal Veterans Administration at time of hire or within probationary period.
An active up to date Basic Life Support (BLS) provider qualification.
Preferred Qualifications
One year of geriatric care experience.
